Grant Lockwood, founder of Goldfields, began his beekeeping journey in 1975 at the age of 16, working with Orange Bee Farms. A naturally gifted and passionate beekeeper, Grant completed his apprenticeship under the guidance of pioneering mentors who helped shape modern beekeeping in Australia. Over the years, he developed deep expertise in bee biology, native flora, climate, geography and farming. This knowledge became the foundation of Goldfields and remains invaluable to this day. Grant passed these skills on to his four children.
In 1989, Grant and his wife Vicki established Goldfields in Lucknow, NSW. In 1999, they relocated the business to its current site on the Mitchell Highway in Vittoria, NSW. This location was carefully chosen for its clean natural environment, ideal for beekeeping, honey production and queen breeding, as well as its position on a major freight route to Sydney. In 2010, a new honey extraction and packing facility was built to support the growing operation.
Grant sadly passed away in 2017, but his legacy continues.
Goldfields is now proudly operated by the Lockwood children – Jon, Mark, Claire and Sam – along with their partners and the next generation of ten grandchildren. The family remains dedicated to continuing Grant’s vision and passion for sustainable, high-quality beekeeping.
Goldfields is a family business owned by the Lockwood family and has been packing honey since 1982. Honey is packed in containers from 250gm for the small consumer, larger quantities for the family up to 1500kg for the commercial buyer.
